Fairfield City Schools to install disinfection filtration systems on buses
FAIRFIELD, Ala. (WBMA) — Fairfield City Schools announced Tuesday it is adding a new layer of protection on its buses against COVID-19 that aims to kill certain viruses and bacteria before they make it inside the schools.
The school district said on Wednesday, August 17, state of the art transit disinfection filtration systems will be installed on buses. The units will disinfect the air and surfaces of the buses continuously. The school district sad this includes seats, floors, backpacks and clothing.
Fairfield administrators said if there's one the past three years has taught them, it's to always be prepared.
"We want the students and employees of Fairfield City Schools to know their health and safety are our priority, and we will do everything we can to support teaching and learning," said superintendent Dr. Regina Thompson. "Of course, Fairfield is a smaller district, and we consider this a significant, proactive measure to make sure learning can always take place on our campuses."
The school district said the new filtration system will not replace regular cleaning and disinfection procedures that are currently in place across the district.
